Impact Hung Windows

A vertical hung window specified for impact resistance, as single-hung or double-hung.

Reference photograph for this category. Confirm type, size, and finish from the project documents.

On this site a single-hung window moves only the lower sash. A double-hung window moves both. Use those definitions on the quote. One manufacturer page about impact hung windows mixes the two definitions. That conflict is flagged below and is not used for pricing.

The hung product page does not publish a product-specific Florida approval number. Do not copy a code from a different window type. If the specification names an approval, send that number.

Where it is specified

  • Bedroom and living elevations marked hung and impact
  • Schedules that separate single-hung from double-hung
  • Units combined with a fixed lite

Configurations that can be requested

  • Single-hung: lower sash operates, upper sash is fixed
  • Double-hung: both sashes operate
  • Hung unit mulled to a fixed lite
  • Geometric lite in the upper sash of a single-hung unit, when the elevation shows that shape. Dimensions for the shape were not published.

Frame finishes, glass makeups, screens, grilles, and hardware lines are listed on the commercial windows page.

Confirm before pricing

  • The hung product page says both that a single-hung window has two operating sashes and that the upper sash is fixed. This site uses the second definition, which matches the single-hung and double-hung pages: only the lower sash moves on a single-hung unit.
  • No Florida approval number is printed in the hung specification list. Do not borrow FL30923 or FL40279 from the sliding or fixed pages.
  • A geometric top sash is mentioned without a size or radius. Send the elevation if that shape is required.
  • U ≤ 0.5 W/m²·K was not published as an NFRC imperial U-factor.

Questions

Before you price this item.

Which sash moves?

Single-hung: the lower sash only. Double-hung: both sashes. A page that says both about a single-hung unit is inconsistent, and this site does not follow that wording.

Is there a Florida approval code for the hung window?

Not on the hung product page that was reviewed. Codes published for other window types are not assumed to apply.
