Commercial Windows
Impact Sliding Windows
A horizontal sliding window specified for impact resistance, with one or more sashes on a track.
An impact sliding window is a slider whose glazing and frame are specified to resist wind-borne debris. It is a different request from a standard sliding window. Panel counts published for this type are two, three, and four, and the unit is often mulled to a fixed lite.
The sash still travels sideways and does not swing into the room. Send the panel count and which panels operate. A Florida product-approval number is published for one aluminum impact slider as FL30923. Division 8 USA does not issue that approval. Confirm the number the project requires.
Where it is specified
- Hospitality and multifamily openings in wind-borne debris regions
- Wide unit windows with limited interior clearance
- Elevations that call for an impact-rated horizontal slider

Confirm before pricing
- FL30923 is the approval code printed on the impact sliding product page. Division 8 USA does not hold or issue that approval.
- General hurricane copy on the same page mentions Large Missile Impact Level D, 140 mph sustained wind, 212 mph gusts, and Miami-Dade approval. Those sentences are not linked to FL30923 in a test table. Do not treat them as the rated performance of this opening until the specification or the approval document says so.
- Other Florida codes listed in a company FAQ (FL30906, FL30922, FL29092, FL29474, FL32506) are not assigned to this sliding product on its page.
- U ≤ 0.5 W/m²·K was not published as an NFRC imperial U-factor. This site does not convert it.
